About the Opportunity:

Our Product Team is growing and we are looking to add an additional Product Manager who will advocate for our users, help drive product improvements and new features, as well as help establish good product management practices. In this role, you will closely collaborate with team members across the organization, including engineering, design, community/marketing, and other stakeholders. Also you will engage with our customers and open-source community to improve Label Studio products and features. As a Product Manager at HumanSignal you will have a tremendous impact on the product direction and help define the future roadmap based on the customer requests and long term product vision. While HumanSignal is a distributed organization, for this role we have a strong preference to hire to work in the San Francisco Bay Area, United States, for this role so that the Product Team may work in a more hybrid capacity. We welcome candidates that are already located in the San Francisco Bay Area or those that are open to relocating here.

What You'll Bring:

  • Proven experience delivering technical products from inception, through delivery, to post launch
  • A combination of 3+ years of product management experience
  • Experience working on AI/ML products and features either as a core product or as an added feature
  • Able to work closely with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products
  • A background in establishing cross functional relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones.
  • Strong technical skill set, bonus for previous roles in an engineering or other technical capacity
  • A deep interest or experience in creating open-source, self serve, or freemium products
  • Knowledge and exposure to partnering with deeply technical user communities
  • Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope
  • Established practice of using both quantitative data (e.g., product metrics) and qualitative data (e.g., user interviews) to inform product prioritization
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and thought leadership leading to business results and outcomes
  • A bachelors degree in a related discipline, or equivalent experience

Within 1 month, you'll:

  • Develop a deep understanding of Label Studio and how it fits in the MLOps ecosystem
  • Establish relationships with HumanSignal users/customers based on deep understanding of their business drivers, strategic goals, and technical challenges
  • Gain thorough understanding of our current roadmap
  • Improve upon current product practices that will lead to better and more efficient ways of working
  • Help bring different functions like sales, marketing, and engineering to common ground

Within 3 months, you'll:

  • Establish yourself as a key member helping to drive the definition of the HumanSignal product portfolio, its goals, and strategy
  • Help finalize building out a product roadmap
  • Become a go-to person to talk to about backlog prioritization
  • Develop a data-driven approach to product decision making
  • Work with Engineering to develop a strategy for releasing features

Within 6 months, you'll:

  • Develop a strategic plan to increase the size and contributions of our open source community
  • Direct and drive multiple teams to successful delivery of open source features and product updates
  • Support and help grow the open source community through your participation in meet-ups and product speaking engagements
  • Continue to iterate on product processes as we scale the team

In 1 year, you'll:

  • Delivery of product updates should be on a predictable & reliable schedule
  • Play a key role in making Label Studio the #1 data labeling platform

At HumanSignal we pay based on regional compensation market rate ranges across the globe. We are hiring for this role across North America. For US based candidates in Colorado and most US remote metro areas our base cash compensation for this role is targeted at $150,000 to $195,000 USD. For candidates in San Francisco and New York metro areas the base cash compensation range is $160,000 to $200,000. These ranges are provided by market data and are in good faith. The final offer details are determined by several factors including candidate experience, expertise, as well as applicable industry knowledge and may vary from the pay ranges listed above.
